About Me
About Me
Welcome to my drumming page. My name is Adam Stranburg, and I’ve been playing drums for as long as I can remember. I picked up my first pair of sticks at age six after being inspired by a Gene Krupa cassette tape that came with a Fisher-Price drum set. That moment lit a spark—and it never went out.
I became serious about music in middle school and began playing professional gigs in high school, throwing myself into as many musical situations as possible. Since then, drumming has been an ongoing journey filled with steady projects, new challenges, and constant growth.
My Journey
Over the years, I’ve worked across a wide spectrum of musical settings and styles—jazz, rock, blues, pop, theater productions, and more. I’ve played original music and cover gigs, theater pits and live shows, intimate rooms and large stages. Highlights include performing in England and Spain, appearing at the American Music Theater in Lancaster, and a steady run of Our Sinatra in NYC at Birdland Jazz Club.
I’ve had the opportunity to tour both regionally and internationally, working with talented musicians in constantly changing environments. That variety has shaped my approach: listen first, adapt quickly, and always serve the music.
What I Offer
I’m available for live performances, studio sessions, and personalized drumming lessons. My strength is versatility—not just stylistically, but musically and professionally.
I’m comfortable locking into a deep pocket, reading charts, working to a click, or navigating situations that require strong musical instincts and communication. Every project is different, and I approach each one by contributing what the music actually needs rather than forcing a formula.
No matter the setting, my goal is simple: be prepared, be supportive, and make the music feel better.
Lessons
I work with students of all ages and experience levels, from beginners to advanced players. Lessons can focus on groove, time, feel, reading, independence, or whatever the student wants to develop most.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—I tailor each lesson plan to the student’s learning style, goals, and musical interests. Fundamentals are always important, but at a certain point, I help students feel confident developing their own musical voice.
If you’re curious whether lessons are a good fit, I’m always happy to talk and answer questions. Lessons will be held at the student’s house so they can play on their own equipment. It’s important to feel comfortable with the gear you use on a daily basis.
